Photos of U.S. “Kill Team” Posing with Murdered Afghan Civilians

The following photos depict soldiers from the 5th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, posing next to the corpse of Gul Mudin, an unarmed Afghan civilian killed by their unit on January 15, 2010, as well as the corpses of two other unnamed Afghan civilians. The photos were published today by Der Spiegel in their German-language print release. However, they are blocked behind a paywall that restricts their dissemination. The U.S. Army responded to the release by saying that the photos depict “actions repugnant to us as human beings and contrary to the standards and values of the United States.” There are reportedly more than four thousand photos of the “kill team” that were collected by Der Spiegel during the course of its investigation. Anyone who has access to these photos is strongly encouraged to contribute them to this site via our encrypted upload form. Public Intelligence will publish these photos in their entirety, unaltered. Obfuscation of victims’ faces in these photos was performed by Der Spiegel.

It amazes me the evil that lives in the “house next door” – and the absolute atrocities that always come out of war (the Rape of nanking, Hiroshima/Nagasaki, the halocaust and on and on) The complete disregard for human life and suffering sickens me. It seems no country is without these types of embarrassments, and some countries even commit them intentionally. I used to avoid looking at pictures like this, but I’ve changed my mind. I think High school seniors should be required to see – in color – what war REALLY means. Everyone, even the ‘enemy’ is human, has family, has people who will care if they are killed. But you never see the real instigators of the wars (country leaders) out there doing the dying. Maybe if they were required to fight on the front lines they would finally find a better way to resolve conflict. May these “soldiers” be judged far more deservedly by their maker than we could ever judge them here – and may they fear that day with all their beings for the rest of their mortal lives!! As an American may I say how very very sorry I am.

Besides the fact that what these soldiers have done is soooo very wrong, they are human beings too and i hope they will be forgiven too and i hope that what they have done is wrong. In my opinion the soldiers are (hard to understand) victims from our society.
I hope their victims will be able to forgive them too, because that is the only way to gain peace in the world i think.

I find it really sad and feel very disappointed when I look at these picture of innocence people dying in the hand of American soldiers. Why? Because they were send there to defend America, to get their point heard, yet at the end they end up killing those that did nothing wrong. Why go to someone house just to kill them, when you know for sure they can’t hurt you? Just because you may have a higher status then them, does not allow you to go kill anyone you want. Where is the pride in American soldiers? This just make them as low as those around them, or even lower.
