Looks like vandalism against private and public property by “protestors” and restraint by police. Not a single depiction of police in contact with protestors. Looks more like police lining up and standing around.
Maybe if these idiots didn’t smash windows and destroy private property then there wouldn’t be a need for this “police state.”
While the protesters are being overly aggressive in their tactics, fuck the police. Lol burnin cop car.
Uhh yeah… these are just a bunch of randomly collected photos. Maybe instead of making a flash judgment based on them, turn on the news. You will see violent riots where protesters become physical with the riot police, you will see organized groups of protesters gathered for a multitude of understandable reasons ranging from bringing home Canadian troops, the rights of the people in South Africa, and all the way to issues with mass consumption. Although I personaly don’t believe in the vandalism, the destruction of large corporation branches, especialy the bank, could be considered a statment against large corporation and its intrusion in our government.
Either way, I am actualy impressed in my lovely little Canada for stepping up in a big way. Some peoplen almost seem disapointed in us for not keeping our head down and turning a shoulder to our governments iresponsible spending, but we are doing a stand up job at displaying our lack of tollerance for a goverment that does not have the intrest of the people at hand.
The Anarchists are helping the police if anything. They want to silence the real message of the G20 protests, but the police can’t do nothing if the protesters remain peaceful. That’s where the Anarchists come in, their tools of the system to silence the crowd, and give a reason for the police to attack and break up the protests. It also gives the news a reason to portray all anti- one world government and anti-bank people as extremists.
Who ever made the comment about watching the news is blind, if you follow the propaganda you have no real idea about what’s really going on in the world.
Fact: During both the US Civil Rights and Anti-Vietnam movements “operatives” were planted amongst the protesters to smash windows, incite violence etc as a means to discredit the participants. Not that I doubt there are “anarchists” bent on civil disobedience but can we really believe at least some of the “worst” offenses do not have similar origins???
We place the police in a horrible position and then criticize them for doing the job that we ask them to do. The true demonstrators\protesters were merely trying to get a message out. That is appropriate in a democracy. What is not appropriate is undertaking mischief, willful damage and committing other acts of a criminal nature. These acts were undertaken by a small group of thugs. While these anarchists claim to be against everything, I would bet a bottom dollar that if they are arrested, they will use every means possible within the system to fight a guilty verdict. I have little sympathy for their position. The title – police state – hardly. Even Socrates noted that while a citizen has the right to protest, the state has a right to protect itself.
I like to compare these pictures from the usual liberal ‘protest’ with those from Tea Parties where the most terrible thing the media can usually find and single out is one nutcake’s hand-painted cardboard sign that, if read from a very liberal point of view, can be interpreted to be racist. Being a suspected racist is 10,000 times at a Tea Party rally worse than burning cars, smashing store windows, and causing a city and country to spend a billion dollars to protect people and property from all the liberal protesters in the eyes of the liberal media. I bet that Toronto would have rather had the Tea Party folks show up than these angry insane liberals.
Glad the protesters destroyed property of American Apparel and Starbucks. If they’d done ANY research whatsoever, they’d know that as far as corporations go, these two are the some of the least concerning in terms of their behavior. Yes, Starbucks are fucking everywhere, but that doesn’t equate to them being as awful as, say, BP, Halliburton, or a million others (a bank would have been a much more appropriate target, no?). Assuming these weren’t acts of “plants”, as some of the above comments have claimed, these protesters appear to have a serious need of reprioritization, or perhaps just prioritization in the first place.
And of course now after posting that I notice the photo of the bank. Serves me right I suppose.
You can bash these photos all you want, but there is a reason they’re protesting. Stop closing your eyes to the truth!! Any pictures that were taken of police in contact with the protesters were probably confiscated. Isn’t that just like a government?
looks like the shit
What real social movement would call itself the Anarchists? The name has a negative appeal to ensure that people are not very supportive of whatever they do. Some psychologists had that figured out right. Then, you use them to incite provocations in order to give the police a pretext to use force. Media images can then discredit the genuine protesters and create an impression that the whole event was run by “extremists.”
An old tactic employed by totalitarian regimes all over the world. I can understand why the “deciders” (read “the traitors”) give these orders, but I will never understand where they take those brainless gorillas from – those who actually do the dirty work and turn against other Canadians for a pay, not seing that they are protecting policies that destroy the future of their own children. BORG mentality, if any. Now, I can see what the “multicultural” society was needed for.
beautiful post by Alel. I am currently in need of this type of self thinking and criticism over what’s going on with corporations’ influence and strategies to quiet any dissent over their heinous actions and their collusions with corrupt government.
I like the asshole standing on top of a war monument. Such a fantastic representation of humility and thoughtful political understanding. Which pandering justification should be used? That war happened centuries ago, so I guess it doesn’t matter. Or, wars shouldn’t be remembered or the dead honoured? I see spoiled douche-bags without a clue about how the world works, using a leaders meeting as an excuse to act like animals.
“Agent Provocateurs” did the damage. The police look ridiculous in so much gear.It is amazing that they would agree to all of the equipment. I guess “overtime pay” is worth selling their souls. It would have been great if the protestors had bound their own hands at the beginning & kept them bound. Checkmate!
