U.S. Africa Command Overview

United States Africa Command, in concert with other U.S. Government agencies and international partners, conducts sustained security engagement through military-to-military programs, military-sponsored activities, and other military operations as directed to promote a stable and secure African environment in support of U.S. foreign policy.

• RT-PCR for influenza capabilities developed by public health labs in U.S.
• Increasing numbers of swine influenza infections in humans being detected from improved surveillance
• Increasing efforts at states, CDC, and USDA to investigate human cases of swine influenza

2007 Colorado Full Scale Mass Vaccination Exercise Plan

This Exercise Plan (EXPLAN) is designed to aid exercise planners in the design and implementation of an effective exercise. An EXPLAN also enables exercise participants to understand their roles and responsibilities in exercise planning, execution, and evaluation. This EXPLAN was produced by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Emergency Preparedness and Response Division (EPRD) with input, advice, and assistance from public health regional staff in all nine of the Colorado All-Hazards Emergency Management Regions.

Securing the Chemical Sector

Defense Intelligence Analysis Center

The Defense Intelligence Analysis Center is the largest operating facility of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). While the Pentagon is the agency’s official headquarters, the Defense Intelligence Analysis Center at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C. is where the majority of DIA’s employees are located. The National Defense Intelligence College and the Defense Intelligence Operations Coordination Center. In 2005 DIA opened the DIAC Expansion which allowed for more DIA personnel to serve under one roof than ever before.

* AIG is focused on repaying the govemnment and the taxpayers, selling assets, and preserving the value of AIG’s diverse businesses.
* In recognition of AlG’s obligation to taxpayers, the company has taken several voluntary steps to restrict executive compensation beyond the requirements of TARP. These restrictions are far more onerous than measures taken by any other company that has received federal assistance
* In all, 2008 total compensation for the top 47 AIG executives is 56% lower than their 2007 total compensation.

U.S. Northern command (USNORTHCOM) recently attained its initial operational capability as the Department of Defense executive agent for Homeland Defense. Terrorists have demonstrated the ability and willingness to obtain and use Weapons of Mass destruction to further their goals.

Central Intelligence Agency Headquarters

An office building complex in suburban McLean, Virginia is the home of the CIA, one of the major intelligence organizations in the world, and a centralized hub for the (nearly) full spectrum of intelligence assets operated by the United States and cooperating governments, corporations, and organizations. The number of employees and the budget of the CIA is officially classified, though it is estimated (2003) that there are around 20,000 employees (not including contractors), working with around $3 billion per year.

Low Probability Cartel Violence Will Affect Seven County Area in Near Term

(U//FOUO) Los Angeles and Riverside are among 131 U.S. cities that report a Mexican drug-trafficking organization (DTO) presence with a corresponding cartel affiliation. In spite of this, cities in the Joint Regional Intelligence Center (JRIC)/Joint Drug Intelligence Group (JDIG)’s area of responsibility (AoR) have felt little impact from the violence currently affecting Mexico. and there is a low probability this will change in the near term (three to six months). Nevertheless, cartel members are using increasingly ruthless tactics.

National Planning Scenarios

The Federal interagency community has developed fifteen all-hazards planning scenarios (the National Planning Scenarios or Scenarios) for use in national, Federal, State, and local homeland security preparedness activities. The Scenarios are planning tools and are representative of the range of potential terrorist attacks and natural disasters and the related impacts that face our nation. The objective was to develop a minimum number of credible scenarios in order to establish the range of response requirements to facilitate preparedness planning.

Mississippi Pandemic Influenza Preparedness and Response Plan

The purpose of this Section is to describe preparedness efforts and response actions in providing State assistance and coordinating local resources in modalities for mitigating transmission of PI; present the Federal concept of a pandemic severity index; set forth Federal parameters for early, targeted, layered use of non-pharmaceutical interventions; provide MSDH consensus statements on isolation and treatment of ill persons, and quarantine of household contacts of ill individuals.

Vermont Homeland Security State Strategy

Vermont’s State Homeland Security Strategy (SHSS) has been developed to identify the priorities for enhancing local, regional and state capabilities to prevent, protect, respond to and recover from an all hazards incident or preplanned event. It is understood that Vermont cannot prepare for every possible hazard; however, through careful capabilities-based planning we can strategically allocate resources to enhance our preparedness and response.

Internment/Resettlement Specialist (31E)

Internment/Resettlement (I/R) Specialists in the Army are primarily responsible for day-to-day operations in a military confinement/correctional facility or detention/internment facility. I/R Specialists provide rehabilitative, health, welfare, and security to U.S. military prisoners within a confinement or correctional facility; conduct inspections; prepare written reports; and coordinate activities of prisoners/internees and staff personnel.
